Wireless internet in Syros

01. What is wireless internet?

An internet connection through an antenna on your roof, with line of sight to one of our base stations. No cable from the street is needed, which is why it works where landline networks do not reach.

02. Is it affected by weather phenomena?

Rain fade is real at high frequencies. Each link is designed with a fade margin for local conditions, and the equipment adapts power and modulation in real time, so the link stays up in bad weather. With proper design, availability runs at 99.9-99.99% of the year.

03. Does it work without a landline phone?

Yes. The connection is independent and needs no phone line.

04. Is there a contract period?

There is no minimum term. The service is prepaid, with no commitment, and you can stop whenever you like: temporarily, for example over the winter months, or for good.

05. Can I have a landline from this connection?

Yes. Latency and jitter are suitable for internet telephony: Viber, Messenger, or a landline number over VoIP with a handset, from any telephony provider you choose.

06. Which areas do you cover?

Almost the whole of Syros: Ermoupoli, Ano Syros, Vari, Galissas, Kini, Finikas, Posidonia, Megas Gialos, Azolimnos, Episkopio and Manna, plus the surrounding settlements. If you do not see your area, send us the address: we check line of sight and get back to you.

07. If I want the connection only for 3 months a year?

You pay only for the months you use. The seasonal plan is made for exactly that.

08. If I need to move?

Your connection can be moved to your new address, provided there is line of sight to one of our base stations. You pay only the labour cost of installing the equipment (30€).

09. Is it suitable for Airbnb-type accommodation?

Yes. Disconnecting and reconnecting is free, so you pay only for the months the property is open.

10. If I am not satisfied or have to stop due to an emergency, what happens?

You can stop the service for good with a simple notice. If you return the equipment in good condition, its cost is refunded, for as long as it is under warranty (2 years).

11. What is the difference between business connections?

Businesses upload as much as they download: cloud applications, backups, remote access. That is why business connections are up to symmetrical (same upload and download speed) and dedicated.

12. Is there a case where the connection cannot be implemented?

Rarely, yes. If the building is low and surrounded by taller buildings or trees, there may be no line of sight to a base station. Also if an antenna cannot be mounted, or the cable cannot be routed inside.
